WEEK OF 4/28-5/2

Monday~Art

Tuesday~Discovery
We read the Tiny Seed and we discussed what plants need to grow.  We mentioned dirt, seeds, water, sunlight, and love!  We also discussed the idea of recycling materials for bettering our Earth.  We looked at trash that doesn't decompose, in both the ocean and in landfills.  So for discovery, we decided to try and grow grass seeds in little cardboard cups so that they could be planted right down into the ground and decompose to help feed the Earth and to give the worms a yummy snack!

Wednesday~Swimming
The pool heater is not functioning which means the water is cold!  So, we were unable to go to swimming today.  Instead, Mr. Yakscoe visited us in our classrooms and did exercises and movement activities with us!
Thursday~Drama

Friday~Cooking
Today we read the book, Chicks and Salsa, and made homemade salsa.  To prepare the ingredients for the salsa, children squeezed limes, pressed fresh garlic, cut tomatoes, cut green onions and tore pieces of cilantro.  After chilling in the fridge, the children enjoyed eating the salsa with chips.  Some children had multiple helpings of the salsa.  OLE!
