TUESDAY~DISCOVERY
In this week's Discovery lesson, we learned more about the pomegranate fruit. First, we read a folktale about this fruit, called, The Magic Pomegranate. Next, the children passed around a pomegranate to touch, see, and smell. We talked about where pomegranates are grown--in very hot, dry places--and the fact that the seeds are the part of the pomegranate that one eats. Finally, each child had his/her own section of a pomegranate to take out the seeds and eat them. The children realized that pomegranates are filled with hundreds of seeds!
Pre-K "A" and a few children from Pre-K "B" visited the swimming pool and locker rooms and met Mr. Yakscoe, the swimming teacher. Mr. Yakscoe read the story, Froggy Learns To Swim, and talked to us about swimming at the Academy pool. Our first swimming class will be next Thursday, September 19th.
Pre-K "B" children explored a rhyming game on the SMARTboard and KidPix on the SMARTboard since we visited the pool on our last C-Day.

THURSDAY~DRAMA For Drama today, Ms. Schroeder had us review the elements of Drama and then we opened our 'Magic Boxes' and were transformed into mirror images. We were partnered up and one person got to be the leader and the other person was the mirror. The leader moved very slowly so that the mirror could follow along and mimic the motions and movements of the leader! After a few minutes we flip-flopped and the leader became the mirror!
FRIDAY~COOKING - For cooking today, we did an extension on our 'Pizza Theme' and made fruit pizza! We first started off by reading the very funny book, We Eat Dinner in the Bathtub- make sure to ask me about the silly story! Then we cut up our toppings (fruit), spread our pizza sauce (frosting) onto our dough (sugar cookie), and then we topped it with our toppings and some of us even put a cherry on top! It was delicious!
