WEEK OF 4/22-4/26

MONDAY~Cooking-

We read Pete's A Pizza and we then made our own personal pizza-dippers with crescent rolls! We got to cut our own cheese, pick pepperoni if we wanted, and roll up our own crescent roll!  It was delicious!

TUESDAY~Swimming

WEDNESDAY~Special Activity--We watched a video called,  "Butterflies--A Flurry Of Winged Activity".

 THURSDAY~ Discovery

Today we read the story, Bartholomew and the Oobleck.  Next, we formed into small groups, with each group having its own bowl of cornstarch to which water was added.  We made our own Oobleck!!  The children were able to touch it, squeeze it. etc.  Depending on how you were holding it, sometimes the oobleck was a liquid and sometimes it was a solid.  This was a much-enjoyed sensory activity!

FRIDAY~Technology- We worked with Firefly Hero!  Make sure to ask me how this fun game works my brain!

WEDNESDAY~Discovery

We continue our study of solids, liquids, and gases.  The children were shown and were able to handle 3 balloons, each representing different states of matter--one balloon had air; one balloon had air; and one balloon had ice.  

We also made Jell-O and discussed how matter can change from a liquid to a solid.

 

We also played a game sorting various objects into solids, liquids, and gases.

TUESDAY~DISCOVERY

Today we discussed matter and its 3 different forms--solid, liquid, and gas.  We showed an example of each form inside of plastic bags.  We will continue to do more experiments and activities to reinforce our understanding of solids, liquids, and gases.

This bag contained water (with blue food coloring)--a liquid.

 This bag contained air--a gas.

 This bag contained a rock--a solid.

WEDNESDAY~TECHNOLOGY~ We learned how to play a new game called Firefly Hero.  It is a thinking/strategy game that requires a lot of fun thinking skills!  Next time we have the iPads out, we are going to play this new game on the iPad rather than on the SmartBoard!
