WEEK OF 10/22-10/26

MONDAY~TECHNOLOGY and TEAMWORK ACTIVITY
Each class (Pre-K A and Pre-K B) had the opportunity to visit the Computer Lab. We got to explore on KidPix and create our own masterpieces or decorate a virtual pumpkin!

We also had time to do a "teamwork" activity with both classes together.   Standing in a circle with hands held, we passed a hoola hoop around the circle without letting go of anyone's hands.  Talk about teamwork!!!  The slide show below shows our teamwork!

TUESDAY~ART
Marshmallow Sculptures, Painting, Clay, Drawing, Kidpix on the Computer--OH MY!!

WEDNESDAY~COOKING
Today's cooking activity began with the story, The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and THE BIG HUNGRY BEAR.   We then made shortcakes to eat with strawberries and whipped cream for afternoon snack.  This was one delicious activity!

THURSDAY~SWIMMING
We continue to work on the importance of blowing bubbles when we put our face in/head under the water.  Also, we worked on a flutter kick (Freestyle kick), focusing on keeping our legs straight when kicking in the water.

FRIDAY~DISCOVERY
We conducted a very exciting discovery project/experiment!  We filled our plates with milk, added the food coloring (without mixing it together) and then dropped in a few drops of dish-soap!  Much to our excitement, the colors moved all on their own!  Make sure to ask me why the colors moved and mixed without us touching it!
(the dish soap reacts with the fat in the milk, adding the food coloring allows us to see the reaction!)

WEEK OF 10/15-10/19

MONDAY~ART

TUESDAY~COOKING
To begin our cooking lesson, we read the story The Popcorn Dragon.  Next, we popped popcorn in a real popcorn popper.  We discussed what helped the kernels to pop into popcorn....heat, the oil, etc.  The children enjoyed watching the popcorn as it popped.  Of course, the best part was eating it!

WEDNESDAY~SWIMMING
In today's swimming class, Mr. Yakscoe introduced the students to inner tubes.  He demonstrated to the class how they float and how to use them when swimming in the pool.

THURSDAY~DRAMA
Mrs. Bateman read the story, Bear Feels Sick.  Then, the children acted out the different animal characters in the story.  This was the perfect activity to do in our pajamas!

FRIDAY~DISCOVERY
To begin our Discovery lesson, Mrs. Terwin read the story, King Pom and the Fox.  She then showed the class a pomegranate.  We discussed where they were grown and what part of this fruit one eats.  Children had the opportunity to take apart part of the pomegranate.  Removing the seeds is a great fine motor activity.  If they wanted, children could eat the seeds as they removed them.
