WEEK OF 3/10-3/14

MONDAY~TECHNOLOGY

Pre-K "A" went to the computer lab and did RAZkids and Kidpix. Pre-K "B" played games on the SMARTboard!

TUESDAY~Since we had Art with Mr. Cicetti in the morning, we didn't go to Art in the afternoon.  Pre-K "A" played a rhyming Bingo game.  Pre-K "B" watched "The Magic School Bus Space Adventures".

WEDNESDAY~DISCOVERY We continued our discussion about the 5 senses.  Today, we talked about the sense of sight.  We played two games with our eyes... One game was that we used our sight to look at a try of objects and then had to remember what objects were on there and had to remember what object(s) had been removed from the tray.  The second activity was that we practiced taking off and putting on a marker cap- over and over.  We then tried to do the same activity with our eyes closed and we talked about how much harder it was with our eyes closed. 

THURSDAY~ 

We attended the 4th grade dress rehearsal of the play, "Dinosaurs Before Dark".

WEEK OF 3/3-3/7

MONDAY~ART

TUESDAY~DISCOVERY: As we have been learning about the planets and how many planets and/or their moons have active and inactive volcanoes, we decided to make our own volcanoes.  We watched a small video on volcanoes, read some some facts out of a volcano book, and then created our own!

THURSDAY~DRAMA

Thursday in Drama we explored a brand new Jumping Beans story where we climbed the beanstalk and (after a nice nap in the giant's castle) we searched for buried treasure! 

FRIDAY~COOKING

Since we celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday earlier this week, we thought we would make green eggs and ham--but we substituted turkey for the ham!  To begin, the children watched an animated version of Green Eggs and Ham.  (We read the story at an earlier time.)  Next, we made green scrambled eggs!  Children were able to crack the eggs, add the green food coloring, and stir the mixture.  After eating the eggs, many children asked for the recipe so they could make them at home and asked if we could do this cooking activity at school again!!

MONDAY~DISCOVERY


TUESDAY~SWIMMING

During this week's swimming class, children became familiar with and used inner tubes.  The children learned that the inner tubes float and many of them jumped into the pool using the inner tubes. 

 

WEDNESDAY~DRAMA

This week in Drama we worked on several of our actor tools using games and a storytelling. We worked on imagination, concentration and body by expanding our game of "What are you doing?" By working with partners we challenged ourselves to choose new and exciting actions for our partners to try. We reviewed our "magic jumping bean" story and added more voice and emotion to our jumping bean characters. 

THURSDAY~COOKING

 Today we made guacamole in our cooking class.  To begin, we read the book, Guacamole.  We then learned about the ingredients that go into making guacamole--avocados, cilantro, olive oil, tomatoes, salt, and lime juice.  Children had the opportunity to cut tomatoes, juice the limes, mash the avocados, and stir the ingredients.  The best part was eating the finished product! 

 

FRIDAY~TECHNOLOGY
         Today, Pre-K B worked in the computer lab and we expressed our creative side!  We were able to make a pictures on KidPix and print out one of our creations!

Pre-K "A" worked on the laptops in our classroom.  We did math activities on abcya.com.
